Shakespeare Festival at Capannori

START OF SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

The Shakespeare Festival, now in its eleventh edition, invites you to celebrate the greatest poet and playwright of all time. Under the artistic direction of Antonella Padolecchia, in collaboration with Final Crew and sponsored by the City of Capannori, it begins at the Arté theatre, Capannori (via Carlo Piaggia) on August 24th and continues until the end of the month.

On Monday, 24th August (7.30 pm) we will have a sort of prologue called “Setting off on the longest journey: Dante in dark woods” the first and second cantos of Dante translated, illustrated and recited in English by Sinclair de Courcy Williams.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE AT THE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

On Monday, 24th August at 9.15 pm there’s “Zona Interattiva, a contemporary dance show performed by the CLAK- Teatro Contagi /Versiliadanza Company with Chiara Cinquini, Leonardo Diana, Chiara Innocenti, Andrea Serrapiglio, Luca Serrapiglio. Info: www.festivalshakespeare.it

“MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING” AND LIVE MUSIC IN SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

On Tuesday, August 25th at 9.15 pm there’s a staged “Much ado about nothing”, performed by the Next Artists Company in the original English version, with live music by “Dreaming Band”. It is a brilliant comedy much loved by the public and often represented since 1994, always with different settings. This production is in a contemporary setting, the scenes are introduced by modern music played live and accompanied by contemporary dance from which you can guess the intention of the characters.

SHAKESPEAREAN SONNETS AT SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

On Wednesday, August 26th at 6 pm there’s a choice of Shakespearean sonnets read and interpreted by Danilo Breschi, accompanied by harp music, on the theme “Love – Time – Beauty”. This is followed by an interview with the author and the director on the idea of the “La Cura del Tempo per Congiunzioni” presented in the evening. Info: www.festivalshakespeare.it

POETRY AT THE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

On Wednesday, August 26th at 9.15 pm there’s a  show titled ” La Cura del Tempo per Congiunzioni” drawn from “La cura del tempo” e “Congiunzione carnale, astrale, relativa” by Danilo Breschi with Andrea Anastasio, Tommaso Carovani, Silvia Stacchini. SHOW WITH PIOMBINO STUDENTS AT THE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

TWO YOUNG ACTORS AT THE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

On Saturday, August 29th at 9.15 pm there’s “First Blood – Macbeth Dialogues”, co-produced by Casa Shakespeare and the Sycamore T Company of Rome (winner of various national and international festivals). Written by Patrick Girard (writer and composer), directed by Solimano Pontarollo, it will star two extraordinary young performers: Selene Gandini, Shakespearean actor with Giorgio Albertazzi and Michele Cesari from the Actor’s Studio. LITERARY AWARDS COMPETITION IN SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

On Sunday, August 30th at 6 pm literary competition awards on the theme “Shakespeare and love”, with a reading of the winning entries. This year Next Artists, creator of the Shakespeare Festival, has decided to deepen its work on the play by challenging the Bard of Avon which contemporary authors will collect in the elaboration of plays and poems. COMPETITION AWARDS FOR SHORT FILMS IN SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

“ROMEO AND JULIET” PIANO IN SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

Monday, 31 August at 21.15. Closing concert of the Festival. There’s “Romeo and Juliet” by Prokofiev, in the piano version played by Gianni Bicchierini and a contemporary dance show performed by Chiara Cinquini with acting by the Next Artists company.
